Description

The PhET Resource Guide document is a reflection of the webtool PhET, which is an online database filled with math and science simulations. The document examines the learning theories supported by PhET simulations, and how the website supports Mayer’s principles of multimedia learning (Mayer, 2009).

Relevance

This artifact reflects ISTE standard 3: collaborator (3c). I partnered with educators to evaluate the efficiency (3c) of the digital learning tool, PhET. To create this document, I collaborated with a peer in the instructional technology program. The document includes ways that PhET simulations could improve.

Analysis

This document critically analyzes the use of PhET simulations in the science classroom. When creating this document, I had to consider multiple learning and design theories. The act of using these theories to analyze PhET has provided me with the skills needed to analyze other web tools that I use in my classroom.
