Description

The PLC Curriculum Documents were created to provide my chemistry department with common goals for our classrooms and to provide a place for reflection. The curriculum document was created to provide my PLC with common objectives to make sure all chemistry students were reaching the same goals. The curriculum document also has the common assessments that the PLC agreed upon during the PLC meetings held. A reflection document was created so my PLC could reflect on what was working, and what to consider changing for the following year.

Relevance

This artifact reflects ISTE coach standard 1: change agent (1e) and standard 2: connected learner (2c). The reflection document connects educators (1e) to each other to provide solutions. This is shown by the collaborative nature of the Google Document. All educators from the PLC added to the document to reflect on what solutions we could implement the following year to help support our students. The curriculum document also establishes shared goals (2c) for the PLC. This document breaks down each unit of study into students objectives, and shares common assignments that teachers can use to reach these objectives. This curriculum document was used to create the outline for our reflection document.

Analysis

These documents change every year based on the previous year’s reflection, and based on new standards that the county wants us to meet. The reflection document has been a powerful tool used to revise our curriculum objectives and assignments. Making this document collaborative has allowed all of the chemistry teachers to have a voice during the planning process.
