Description

The Poll Everywhere Training presentation was created to provide educators with professional development on using the Poll Everywhere web tool. The presentation gives an overview of what the web tool can do and discusses the benefits and drawbacks of the program. At the end of the presentation, there is a video showing the viewer how to set up and create an activity using Poll Everywhere.

Relevance

This artifact reflects ISTE standard 3: collaborator (3d), standard 4: learning designer (4b), standard 5: professional learning facilitator (5c), and standard 6: data-driven decision-maker (6b). The presentation provides personalized support for educators by modeling the effective use of technology to support student learning (3d). It also helps educators use digital tools (i.e., Poll Everywhere) to create effective assessments that support personalized learning (4b). The presentation also helps meet the schoolwide vision for using technology for high-impact teaching and learning (5c). Because Poll Everywhere compiles student data for teachers, this presentation also supports educators to interpret qualitative and quantitative data to inform their decisions (6b).

Analysis

This presentation was created to present a web tool to my peers in the instructional technology program. As the head of the chemistry department at my school, I decided it would also be beneficial to share this presentation with my colleagues. Along with presenting the benefits, drawbacks, and examples, I also led a workshop to help teachers set up their Poll Everywhere accounts. During this workshop I was able to show teachers how both sides of the web tool work (i.e., educators and students). This got them comfortable enough with the program to use it in their classrooms.
