Description
The Traits and Practices of the Online Teacher and Learner infographic shares the needs and characteristics of both educators and learners in an online classroom. The information is compiled from three peer reviewed resources. The artifact is helpful for educators transitioning to an online platform for their classroom, and can be used as a reference tool to make sure teachers are being supported and supportive.
Relevance
This artifact reflects the ISTE coach standard 1: change agent (1a, 1c). The infographic creates a shared vision (1a) for using technology. This is done by sharing with teachers the best practices that educators can implement to support their students in an online classroom. These practices can also be considered when using technology in a face-to-face classroom. The infographic supports a coaching culture (1c) by sharing goals that educators can have to support learners. These goals include the types of support that teachers should be providing their students (i.e., academic support, technology support, and social emotional support).
Analysis
I created this infographic while my school was participating in virtual learning during the pandemic. It helped me and my team tailor our new online curriculum to support our diverse learners. Although we are now back in person, it still has helped focus our instruction on meeting the needs of our students.
